Police officer accused of stealing heroin from an evidence locker, and then overdosing while on the job

November 1, 2017

Ebensburg, Cambria County Pa. - Today a former Johnstown police officer accused of stealing heroin from an evidence locker, and then overdosing while on the job, is one step closer to trial.

Police say William Slisz started stealing drugs in the fall of 2015.

In September of 2016, police say an officer found him unconscious at work with a hammer lying next to him, and a hole in the wall leading to the evidence room.

Officials say his alleged crimes destroyed evidence and forced them to throw out several other cases.

His pre-trial meetings are set to begin later this morning.
