A D.C. police officer was arrested Thursday for stealing from the evidence room where he worked, D.C. police announced.

Officer Rodney Williams, a 24-year veteran with the force, has been charged with second degree theft.

A tip from a MPD employee launched the investigation into Williams, authorities said. According to investigators, Williams took property from the Evidence Control Branch while on duty.
