Bridgeton, NJ

BRIDGETON - Angel L. Alicea, 33, of Laurel Street, was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with burglary, theft, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred Nov. 11, 2008. A residence on Pearl Street was burglarized on that day, and a firearm was stolen.

Police found a bloody leather work glove at the scene and tested it for DNA, as they do with evidence found at the crime scene of all indictable offenses. The DNA matched Alicea's, police said.

Bridgeton police Captain Burl Kimble said DNA testing typically takes a significant amount of time to complete, which is why the results had not been known until now.

Alicea was located at a Church Street residence, arrested, and lodged in the Cumberland County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. He had been on probation at the time of his arrest.
