A former Oregon State Police evidence technician has been indicted on accusations that he stole at least $10,000 from evidence coffers for more than a year.

John D. Parrish, 60, is accused of first- and second -degree theft and first-degree official misconduct. He is accused of taking cash from the agency's evidence locker in Central Point from July 2012 through February 2014, Jackson County District Attorney Beth Heckert said.

Parrish was indicted on June 3. Court records show a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

A LinkedIn page for Parrish says he had been an OSP evidence technician since April 2006 and worked at the agency's offices in Central Point and Grants Pass.

Parrish was placed on administrative leave in July 2014 amid allegations of stealing evidence, said Oregon State Police Lt. Bill Fugate. Parrish resigned two months later.

A previous version of this story misstated John Parrish's job status.
