ACHILLE, Okla. (KXII) - Former Achille Mayor David Northcutt pleaded guilty to a federal charge after selling stolen firearms across state lines.
An indictment says in March the 42-year-old knowingly possessed, concealed, bartered and disposed of stolen weapons across state lines.
An affidavit says after the police chief was suspended, Northcutt used the keys to burglarized the Achille Police Department evidence room He took drugs, firearms, a Yeti cooler and about $8,000 in cash.
In April, three firearms reported stolen from the evidence room had been located at a pawn shop in Calera, pawned by Northcutt.
Northcutt admitted to selling one of the firearms to a man in Grayson County and using the stolen cash to pay bills and gamble.
He was arrested during an interview with News 12 in May.
"It's time to be held accountable for the actions I've been a part of," Northcutt said during that interview.
"It does bring closure that we knew all the time that we had nothing to do with it, and we were doing everything possible to find out who did," said former Achille Asst. Police Chief Bart Alsbrook.
Northcutt faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
