MADISON (WKOW) -- Court documents detail evidence Capitol Police have gathered to charge a former member of their department with the theft of a painting from the Wisconsin Executive Residence.

The criminal complaint states a Capitol Police detective started investigating in January after an audit of state-owned property uncovered that a painting that was supposed to be stored in a room at the governor's mansion in Maple Bluff was missing.

A DOA employee told the detective the framed painting, Fantasy Box by Aaron Bohrod, had an estimated worth of $100,000 or greater.

An online search found a painting by the same name for sale in a gallery and the gallery owner provided evidence he bought the art for $1,800 in late February of 2011 from Travis Sackett.

Capitol Police employed a Travis Sackett from March 2, 2009 till February 5, 2011. The criminal complaint states he worked for the dignitary protection unit at the Executive Residence, working the overnight shift.

Sackett is now charged with theft, misconduct in office and false representation.
