A 13-year veteran of the Warm Springs tribal police force has been sentenced to three months in prison for stealing nearly $5,000 seized as evidence in a criminal case.

On Monday in Portland, Senior U.S. District Judge Ancer Haggerty also ordered 40-year-old Gregory Stinson of Madras to repay the money to the Confederated Tribe of Warm Springs.

According to court records, Stinson stole the money in April 2007 when he supervised the police department's evidence room. He later resigned from the Warm Springs Police Department.
