RIPLEY, Miss. (WTVA) – A former Ripley police officer is now on the wrong side of the law according to Attorney General Jim Hood.
Hood announced today the arrest of former Ripley police officer Wesley Brent Garner, 40, of Ripley. He was indicted Monday by a Tippah County grand jury.
The indictment alleges that Garner intentionally broke into the offices of the Ripley police chief and the narcotics office in June to conceal or remove physical evidence, an envelope containing what he believed to be meth.
His bond was set at $30,000.
If convicted, he faces a total of nine years in prison and a $3,000 fine. Ripley Mayor Chris Marsalis confirms that Garner was terminated from his employment months ago.
