admitted to stealing money from evidence
March 24, 2017
A former South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper who admitted to stealing money from evidence while on the job has been sentenced to five years in the state penitentiary. In addition, 48-year-old Brian William Biehl received a $10,000 fine.
Attorney General Marty Jackley announced the sentence on Friday. The charges stem from money Biehl took while employed as a law enforcement officer with the Highway Patrol. Biehl was charged last November, and pleaded guilty in February. He served as a trooper for 15 years, working primarily in the Chamberlain area.
