Former town police clerk sentence

Star Exponent

Culpeper, VA

A former civilian employee who worked at the Culpeper Police Department will spend one year on probation for embezzlement. Ronald P. Myers, 41, of Bealeton, was sentenced this month in Culpeper County Circuit Court to three years in prison with the entire prison term suspended. Myers also paid $685 in restitution and court costs.

Myers, who was the Police Department’s property and evidence custodian, pleaded guilty to taking $300 from an unclaimed wallet that was turned in to authorities in October. Police said the missing money was discovered last spring after a property audit.

Myers resigned his position last May after three years on the job. The department said his departure was not directly connected to the charge.
