GBI probes break-in at police department

The Associated Press State, Local Wire

McDonough, GA

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a break-in at the McDonough Police Department. GBI agents were on the scene Tuesday after a window to the building and the door to the evidence room were pried open. Police Chief Preston Dorsey says he doesn't know why someone would want to get into the evidence room. Officials won't know what might have been taken until an audit is completed.

Dorsey said the building is mostly empty after 5 p.m., but officers come in and out occasionally to write reports or interview people. The chief said the thief apparently hid behind some bushes before prying open the window.
