KOKOMO, Ind. -- A 15-year veteran with the Kokomo Police Department is on a month suspension without pay amid accusations he improperly handled evidence in a child pornography investigation.
The City of Kokomo Board of Public Works and Safety approved the discipline at its meeting Wednesday following a recommendation from Chief Robert Baker.
An internal investigation found Officer Tye Darlin, a patrolman with the Kokomo Police Department, did not process evidence per department policy and procedures.
The mishandling did not affect any criminal case or investigation, according to Baker.
Darlin received a 30-day suspension and lost 10 vacation days.
Also this week, a Kokomo Fire Department captain was arrested for exposing himself to his teenage babysitter.
At its meeting Wednesday, the Board of Public Works and Safety approved and entered into their records fire Chief Glover's act of placing Granson on unpaid, indefinite leave pending the outcome of the criminal case and the agency's own investigation.
