SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A Ludlow Police Lieutenant has been indicted on charges he stole from the department’s evidence locker, as well as drug charges.

Mass. Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office says that Lt. Thomas Foye, 49, of Ludlow was indicted Thursday on charges of tampering with evidence, theft of drugs from a dispensary, and possession of a class B substance.

Coakley’s office also says in a statement that Foye allegedly “stole dozens of pieces of evidence including cocaine and prescription pills” between January and August 2013.

In some cases, Foye reportedly replaced the narcotics taken from the evidence bags with pills that didn’t match the description on the corresponding state lab certifications.

Foye was arrested last August by Mass. State Police after an he allegedly again went into the locker without authorization.

Coakley’s office adds that when they placed Foye under arrest, they found him in possession of cocaine.

Foye, who was placed on paid administrative leave shortly after his arrest, will be arraigned at a later date in Hampden County Superior Court.
