AKRON, Ohio — Police confiscated nearly two dozen guns from the car of a Doylestown man who now faces 50 felony charges.

Ryan Peltan, 30, faces 23 charges of possessing a gun as a felon, eight charges each of trafficking in drugs and possessing Adderall, two counts each of carrying a concealed weapon and improperly storing a gun in a car and seven counts of possessing other drugs, such as Xanax, Lazapram and Tramadol.

Peltan is in the Summit County Jail awaiting arraignment Wednesday in Akron Municipal Court.

An Akron police officer went up to his 2003 Cadillac DeVille about 3:45 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of Gatsby's Pub stip club in the 2500 block of Romig Road.

The officer ran his plates and discovered that Peltan was driving without a license and had a warrant for not paying his fines in a 2013 marijuana possession case, according to an arrest report.

Police reported being able to see guns in the car. When they asked Peltan if he had any guns, he replied that he may have one rifle in the car, according to police.

The officer searched his car and found more than two dozen handguns, rifles and shotguns, according to court records. Some of the guns were loaded and several are stolen, court records say.

Officers also found more than 1,000 prescription pills in the car, police said.

A passenger, Derik Snell, 39, of Rittman, also faces charges of receiving stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon and improperly storing a gun in the car. He possessed a stolen gun, marijuana and pills, court records say.

Peltan was previously convicted of drug trafficking in a 2011 Wayne County case. He was originally granted the ability to go through a drug-treatment program that would have erased his conviction in the case. He failed out of the program and was sentenced to a year in prison.

The Medway Drug Enforcement Agency found Peltan in 2011 with crack, heroin and prescription pills.
