LINCOLN, Neb. —

A Nebraska State Patrol evidence tech and her boyfriend are under arrest accused of conspiring to distribute cocaine laced with fentanyl.

Anna Idigima, an NSP civilian employee of 14 years, and her boyfriend George Weaver Jr. were arrested for conspiracy to distribute more than 140 grams of cocaine and fentanyl.

Police said they traced the drug trail from a deadly wave of overdoses back to the pair. Lincoln Police said nine people died. There was a pregnant victim who survived but lost her unborn baby.

Through random audits, the Lincoln-Lancaster County Narcotics task force said detectives discovered large amounts of drugs missing including "significant quantities of cocaine and fentanyl."

"It became clear, this employee had betrayed the trust of the people of Nebraska," said NSP Col. John Bolduc. "Worse than that, her actions appear to have caused immense pain for people in this community."

In late August, NSP cut off Idigima's access to secure facilities including the evidence lab and terminated her employment.

Lancaster County Attorney Pat Condon said his office has identified 105 open cases and will be doing a complete review now that this has come to light.
