More information has been made public following last week's arrest of a Birmingham police officer on felony charges.
The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office on Friday issued warrants against Officer Tony Noble Williams for first-degree theft of property and ethics law violation, police announced Saturday. No details of his alleged crimes, however, were released at that time.
According to charging documents, the 38-year-old South Precinct officer on March 14 obtained control over two rings valued at a combined $17,950. He reportedly took possession of them after they were lost or misplaced and later turned in to someone who then called Birmingham police.

Williams was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 1:26 a.m. Saturday and released at 3:23 a.m. after posting $10,000 bond. Court records do not yet list an attorney, but Williams was scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday morning.
