Orangeburg County, SC

NORWAY, SC (WIS) - Norway Town Hall was broken into this week, and authorities said those involved did gain access into the police department's evidence room.

The incident took place sometime between 8:00pm Tuesday and 7:30am Wednesday, and the party responsible for the incident is still on the loose.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department said there was a large hole found in a rear fence and the back door of the building was kicked in. Deputies said the suspect(s) entered multiple desk drawers as well as the police department's evidence room, which was secured. But they said it's unknown at this time what was taken.

The incident halted all evidence recovery, and crime scene units were required to respond to the incident.

The sheriff's department was able to collect foot impressions found outside the building as evidence.

Authorities will continue to investigate the incident.
