The Hardin County Sheriff's Office updated its evidence room thanks to a grant from the Kentucky Association of Counties.

Sheriff John Ward said the association recently awarded the department a $1,000 safety grant. He said the money was used to complete ventilation work in the department's evidence room for the health and safety of the evidence custodians.

With marijuana and other types of drugs in evidence, Ward said the room needed extra ventilation.

"We were able to put that money to good use," he said. "We were glad to receive it."

The Kentucky Association of Counties is a big partner with all the counties in Kentucky, Ward said. He said this grant is just one way the association gives back to the counties.
