(Port Angeles) -- The trial for a former evidence technician accused of stealing from the Clallam County Sheriff's department evidence room has been delayed.

Staci Allison now is scheduled to go on trial in mid-October.

Her trial was scheduled to begin on Monday. The delay came after a box of evidence was found. That evidence had not been turned over to defense attorneys by the State Patrol which was handling the investigation.

Judge Ken Williams gave the delay in the trial on Monday.

Allison faces theft and money laundering charges. She was charged three years ago after an investigation alleged she stole more than 51-thousand dollars.

The case first began to unfold in late 2006 when an internal audit found a large amount of money had been taken from the evidence room.
