A detective with the Wauwatosa Police Department is under investigation, suspected of stealing drugs out of police evidence, according to Patch's media partner WISN 12 News.

Robin Schumacher is listed as an inmate in the Milwaukee County Jail and has charges pending. A reliable source told WISN 12 News she is accused of stealing drugs from a police evidence area.

In a statement to Wauwatosa elected officials, Police Chief Barry Weber confirmed Schumacher's arrest and said she was placed on administrative leave and that he would be requesting her termination before the Police and Fire Commission.

Weber said Schumacher was arrested Tuesday at the police station after an internal investigation. Weber said he expected charges would be filed against Schumacher on Thursday or Friday.

According to Wauwatosa Police Department annual reports, Schumacher was reassigned from Patrol Specialist-Accident Investigator to the Special Operations Group, effective Jan. 3, 2009. The Special Ops group consists of just two officers and a sergeant and is largely, but not exclusively, involved in undercover drug investigations.

The same year, 2009, she received a Letter of Appreciation from Chief Weber commending her for professional performance of duty and excellent demonstration of training, skill and teamwork.

Schumacher was promoted to detective effective June 29, 2010, assigned to the Investigative Division–Day Shift.
