Police Recover Gun Stolen From Chelsea District Court Evidence Locker

BOSTON (CBS) — A gun believed to have been stolen from an evidence locker at Chelsea District Court in 2011, has been recovered.

Two Everett men and an Everett woman have been arraigned on numerous gun and drug charges, including possession of a gun that was reported stolen from Chelsea District Court in November 2011, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said Sunday.

Liban Ali, 21, Jeffrey Sanon, 30, and Malensky Oscar, 21, all of Everett, were arraigned in Malden District Court on charges of possession of a high-capacity firearm (3 counts each), possession of a high-capacity magazine (3 counts each), unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, trafficking in cocaine over 36 grams, conspiracy to violate the drug law, and receiving stolen property.

Ali and Sanon are being held without bail, Oscar is held on $25,000 cash bail.

In November 2011, the I-Team learned three guns had disappeared. Police believed them to be stolen and back on the street.

Early last year, Clerk Magistrate Kevin Murphy was reassigned to Salem District Court while an internal audit was done into how evidence was being handled in Chelsea.

The district attorney’s office says Winchester Police were recently investigating a break-in and theft of a laptop computer from a local business.

Using the laptop’s antitheft device, police tracked it to an Everett address.

There, they found more than 36 grams of cocaine and packaging materials. They seized several high-capacity firearms, several high-capacity magazines, additional ammunition and the computer stolen from the Winchester business.

Of those guns, police say the .40-caliber Glock pistol was one of the guns taken from the court. There is still no word on the location of the other guns.
