ROCK SPRINGS — Three teens were arrested Friday in connection with the death of a 17-year-old boy whose body was found buried north of Rock Springs last month, authorities said.

Eighteen-year-old Brady Jacob Trevino, of Rock Springs, faces charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the death of Rigoberto "Rigo" Alvarado, Sweetwater County Sheriff Rich Haskell and Rock Springs Police Chief Mike Lowell said in a release.

Jose Antonio Campos, 18, of Rock Springs, and a 17-year-old Green River boy whose name wasn't released each face a charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Investigators said all the teens apparently were involved with marijuana. They said it appeared Campos may have benefited from a disputed illegal drug transaction between Alvarado and Trevino and that Alvarado's girlfriend had once dated Campos.

Alvarado's girlfriend told investigators she last saw Alvarado when he left her home to meet with Trevino the night of July 29. Trevino acknowledged arguing with Alvarado and told investigators he hadn't seen Alvarado after Alvarado left to cool off, authorities said.

On Aug. 19, a group exploring the remains of abandoned coal camps and mining operations north of Rock Springs found Alvarado's body. An autopsy indicated Alvarado, whose hands and feet were bound, had what appeared to be multiple blunt force injuries and gunshot wounds, authorities said.

Detectives said a piece of the material used to bind Alvarado and bullet casings at the scene where he was buried resembled casings and material found in vehicles at Trevino's home. DNA on cigarette butts from the crime scene matched DNA samples from all three suspects, authorities said.

Phone numbers for the suspects and their families were unlisted. They couldn't be reached for comment late Friday.
