Ex-Oklahoma police chief convicted of embezzlement

DURANT — An Oct. 26 formal sentencing date has been set for a former Bryan County police chief who was convicted of embezzlement for taking a revolver from an evidence locker room.

A jury deliberated about 25 minutes before finding Troy Glover guilty Tuesday. A local newspaper reports the panel recommended a one-year prison term and a $5,000 fine.

Glover was police chief of Caddo when he allegedly removed a Ruger .44-magnum revolver from the evidence room in 2011 and traded it for a 9 mm pistol. According to an affidavit, Glover said he removed the gun and allowed someone to use it, but he denied trading it.

Town Council members fired him after he was charged.

His attorney, Jeremy Elliott, didn't immediately return a call Thursday seeking comment.
