HOUSTON – A Houston police officer was treated after officials say he was exposed to an unknown narcotic while collecting evidence during a disturbance at a hotel room Wednesday morning.
According to the Houston Police Department, the happened around 7 a.m. at a hotel room in the 9000 block of the Southwest Freeway.
Officers were responded to the scene initially to a trespassing call, officials said. Hotel employees said an intoxicated man was trespassing and would not leave the premises.
The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived, but employees let them into his hotel room. There officers found 50 to 100 capsules of an unknown substance.
After moving the evidence to their patrol vehicle, one of the officers became ill. At that point, the other officer administered Narcan, a prescription
Police said the officer was transported to a local hospital and was later released. Officials said that the narcotic that the officer collected is unknown at this time and will be tested in a lab.
