New Athens police chief charged with stealing iPad, iPod from evidence room

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV) – New Athens Police Chief Dallas Hill is accused of stealing two electronic devices from the evidence room for personal use.

Hill, 27, was charged Monday with two counts of official misconduct and one count of theft over $500.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the St. Clair County Circuit Clerk’s office, Hill took an Apple iPod and an Apple iPad from the New Athens’ evidence vault for his own use.

If found guilty, Hill faces between two and five years in jail and up to 30 months probation.
