Possible change of plea?

Former Vermont State Police trooper may change plea in stolen evidence case

February 16th, 2024

The case against a former Vermont state trooper accused of stealing from a police evidence room may be headed to a resolution.

In court on Friday, Giancarlo DiGenova's attorney told the judge that he anticipates having a plea agreement to file with the court in the next two weeks.

DiGenova's attorney said, "It's likely they'll be able to do a change of plea."

In May, Giancarlo DiGenova pleaded not guilty to 20 charges.

He is accused of stealing several items that included a $14,000 Rolex Watch seized by narcotics investigators and Burlington Police in November 2022.

DiGenova went on leave from his job with the Vermont State Police in December 2022.

He had been with VSP since 2009.
