The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is probing whether Dr. Bruce Levy took marijuana and any other items from the medical examiner's evidence room, TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm said.

Levy, the state's medical examiner who was arrested Tuesday on felony marijuana charges, had a package containing marijuana sent to his Ridgewood, Miss., hotel room.

Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents contacted the TBI about evidence seized in Levy's hotel room, Helm said.

"They wanted to let us know that it looked suspicious to them," she said. "We took the information to District Attorney Torry Johnson and requested to open an investigation."
