A deputy lost her job recently after Rutherford County Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh discovered she had sex in an evidence room.
The deputy, who had the rank of corporal, "engaged in sexual intercourse while on duty in her assigned work office with an on-duty patrol deputy," states an Oct. 28 report of action that includes the signature of Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh. The action report says the corporal admitted to her actions.
Several other deputies have been fired by Fitzhugh since he took office in 2017. Those to lose their jobs include former narcotics Lt. Jason Mathis after he faced theft charges of taking a riding lawn mower that was supposed to be evidence.
The deputy who lost her job and the on-duty patrol deputy had sex in the evidence room two or three times this year, according to a report completed by the sheriff's Office of Professional Responsibility.
The male patrol deputy resigned over the summer, before the accusations came to light.
