A policeman has been arrested and charged for stealing a motorcycle from a police station compound and converting the unit to his personal use.
Reports reaching Loop News are that the police constable was arrested after he was caught driving the motorcycle to work.
The motorcycle had been seized during a police operation, and placed at the station, sources told Loop News.
Reports are that the police constable removed the motorcycle from the station, had modifications done to the bike, and was using it for his personal use.
The constable, who has been identified as Jhanoye Johnson, pleaded guilty to larceny charges when he appeared in the St James Parish Court on Wednesday, February 7.
He was charged by detectives from MOCA West, for breaches of the Larceny Act, on Wednesday, January 31.
Reports are that on Friday, January 26, a sergeant at the Barnett Street Police Station observed that a motorcycle which was seized earlier in 2017, and was stored on the compound, was missing.
Further inquiries led to the sergeant questioning Johnson about a motorcycle which he drove onto the compound, which was similar to the missing bike.
